The Office of the Auditor is a constitutional office and has several different duties, including:

• Serving as a secretary to the Board of County Commissioners and the clerk to the County Council
• Keeping accounts and issuing checks for the county (the Board of Commissioners, the Council, and other officials often look to the auditor for day-to-day operational assistance, information, and advice)
• Coordinating tax collection and distribution
• Serving as the county comptroller
• Keeping up-to-date information on the transfer of property
